Alaska

Alaska is commonly known as being not only the coldest, but also the largest of the fifty United States. Although the state may be large when it comes to mileage, population size is another story; there are more caribou living in the state than people.¹ This makes sense considering two of the most common jobs in the state is zoologists and wildlife biologists, while other common jobs include geological and petroleum technicians as well as pilots.²

When it comes to occupational safety and health administration in Alaska, it’s one of twenty-two states/territories that have OSHA-approved State Plans that cover private and state and local government workplaces. The state office can be found in Juneau, while the federal office is in Anchorage.³ The OSHA approved plan for the state of Alaska is known as AKOSH (Alaska Occupational Safety and Health Section).
