Hawaii

The state of Hawaii consists of eight different islands: the Big Island of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, Niihau, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe. Something many people don’t realize is that Hawaii is the most isolated population on planet earth; there is a prolonged distance from other lands.(1) The landscape and island makeup of Hawaii makes it one of the most unique states to live in. There are even three active volcanoes in the state.(2)

When it comes to occupational safety and health administration in Hawaii, it’s one of twenty-two states/territories that have OSHA-approved State Plans that cover both private and state and local government workers.(3) The OSHA approved plan for the state of Hawaii is known as HIOSH.
