Kansas is well known for being one of the country’s top manufacturers of not only wheat, but also private aircrafts.1 When it comes to the mass production of wheat, it probably helps that Kansas’s typography is literally flatter than a pancake.2 However, when it comes to aircraft production, Walter Beech, Clyde Cessna and Lloyed Stearman are to thank for kicking off their aviation company, Travel Air Manufacturing, in Wichita back in 1920.3 It’s no wonder that some of the most common jobs found in Kansas than in other states include farm equipment mechanics, pesticide handlers, avionics technicians, and commercial pilots.4
