Kentucky is known by many to be home to the oldest continuously held  horse race in the history of the U.S. The first Kentucky Derby was held back in 1875 and has been continued to be held in Louisville on the first Saturday of every May.1 Interestingly, racing horses aren’t the only thing specific regarding Kentucky when it comes to horsepower. Since the first Corvette was manufactured in 1981, every Corvette has since been made in Bowling Green.1 Considering this, it makes sense that some jobs more commonly found in Kentucky than in other states include animal trainers, sports officials and automotive glass installers/repairers.2

When it comes to occupational safety and health administration in Kentucky, it’s one of twenty-two states/territories that have OSHA-approved State Plans that covers private and state and local government workplaces.
