The state of Ohio is commonly known for a couple of famous "firsts." Ohio is home to the first ambulance service established, along with America's first traffic light. Not only this, but the city of Akron is known to be the first city to use police cars, and Cincinnati is known to have had the first professional city fire department.1 With that being said, it seems safe to say that Ohio has been an innovative and productive state throughout the years.
When it comes to occupational safety and health administration in Ohio, the state follows federal regulations. There are currently four federal OSHA offices covering private-sector employees and workers; they are located in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo.3 On-site consultations through OSHA's Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) are available on request to employers who want assistance in identifying and correcting safety and health hazards in their workplaces.2 Learn more about Ohio OSHA here.
