Rhode Island is famous for being the smallest state of the United States. Ironically, it happens to have the longest state name. Rhode Island’s official name is “the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations."1 Another funny thing about Rhode Island is that it was the first state to declare independence, but it was the last state to ratify the constitution.
