Wyoming

The state of Wyoming is often known for its history when it comes to women's rights. The Wyoming territory was not only the first in the nation to give women the right to vote, but also for having the first female governor, Nellie Tayloe Ross; even today, the official motto of the state is "Equal Rights."¹ Wyoming is also known for having one of the smallest population sizes (six people per square mile), even though it's the tenth largest state.³ This is partially due to the fact that much of the state's terrain is mountainous and is a part of Yellowstone National Park.

When it comes to occupational safety and health administration in Wyoming, it’s one of twenty-two states/territories that have OSHA-approved State Plans. Wyoming was the first state to develop their own OSHA rules involving oil and gas drilling, servicing, special servicing, and anchor testing.² Some services that Wyoming OSHA provides includes safety and health program assistance, on-site visits, monitoring, education and training about rules and regulations, and prestige programs.
